High Performance Networking
Technologies Seminar

On Tuesday, April 24, 2001, the HNF sponsored a GSN seminar and demonstration in Chantilly, VA. Hosted by SGI, the program included presentations by GSN end users and vendors alike.

Presentations

A GSN demonstration network was configured at the event. It consisted of Compaq, IBM, SGI, and Sun UNIX platforms using GENROCO GSN PCI NICs and an SGI GSN XIO NIC, Essential 8 and 32 port GSN switchs, and a GENROCO 8 port GSN switch. Netperf, and industry standard networking benchmark program, was used to generate TCP/IP traffic from the Sun system to the SGI system at 120 MBytes/s, and from the SGI system to the IBM system at 140 MBytes/s. A Scheduled Transfer test program produced a data stream from the Compaq system to the SGI system at 206 MBytes/s.
